Position Overview :
The Shipping Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the shipping department and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage day-to-day operations of the shipping department, including staffing, training, and supervision.
- Coordinate and oversee outgoing shipments, ensuring they meet internal guidelines and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and customer service, to align shipping activities with broader organizational goals.
- Evaluate shipping methods and carriers to find the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain records of shipping metrics, like delivery times, shipping costs, and damages.
- Enforce adherence to laws, guidelines, and ISO requirements related to shipping and transportation.
- Conduct regular team meetings to keep staff updated on best practices and continuing expectations.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Familiarity with shipping software and database programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential.
