Job Summary :
The Security Dispatcher serves as a critical communication hub, ensuring timely and accurate relay of information between security personnel, external emergency services, and relevant stakeholders. This role demands a high level of attention, swift decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple communications channels concurrently.
Key Responsibilities :
Communication Management :
- Receive, document, and prioritize calls and alarms requiring security attention.
- Dispatch security officers to incidents, emergencies, or service requests.
- Maintain constant radio communication with security personnel, monitoring their welfare and location.
Emergency Coordination :
- Coordinate with external emergency services (police, fire department, medical services) when required.
- Assist in the facilitation of emergency evacuation procedures if necessary.
Record-Keeping :
- Document details of calls, dispatches, incidents, and on-site responses.
- Update and maintain logs for security activities, equipment checks, and officer shift changes.
Equipment Monitoring :
- Monitor and operate security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance systems.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure all equipment is functional and report any malfunctions.
Information Relay :
- Communicate pertinent information to the next shift during handover.
- Report significant events or incidents to the Security Supervisor or Manager immediately.
Required Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to operate communication equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make decisions quickly.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Previous experience in a security dispatch or similar role.
- Knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity with the geographic layout of the facility or area being monitored.
Working Conditions :
- Typically based in a control room or central monitoring station.
- Potential exposure to high-stress situations, requiring rapid response and coordination.
- Shift work might be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation :
Hourly Wage: $18 – $25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Overtime: Eligible for overtime pay at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a week.
