Position Overview :

The Lead Pharmacy Technician serves a vital role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This position is responsible for ensuring accuracy in medication dispensing, supervising pharmacy technicians, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.


Key Responsibilities :

  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians in daily tasks such as medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing.
  • Serve as the point of contact between pharmacy staff and management.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including the proper storage and handling of medications.
  • Coordinate inventory management tasks such as ordering, receiving, and maintaining stock levels.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the verification of prescriptions and consultation with healthcare providers.
  • Train new pharmacy staff and provide ongoing training to existing technicians.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensed, errors, and interventions.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
  • State Pharmacy Technician Certification and compliance with state-specific regulations.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software and systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
