Compensation: $15 – $25 per hour, depending on location and experience
Position Overview :
The Fire Watch plays a crucial role within the Safety and Security Department. It is responsible for maintaining a safe environment during hot work activities like welding, cutting, or other operations that could generate sparks or heat. This role ensures the immediate reporting and mitigation of any fire hazards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Continuously monitor areas where hot work activities are taking place.
- Inspect the area for potential fire hazards before, during, and after hot work operations.
- Maintain communication with the hot work operator and be prepared to extinguish small fires using portable fire extinguishers.
- Initiate emergency procedures for a more significant fire, including activating fire alarms and notifying emergency services.
- Complete necessary documentation, such as fire watch logs and safety reports.
- Coordinate with the Safety Manager and other team members to ensure site safety.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience in a safety-related role is an advantage but not required.
- Basic understanding of fire safety protocols and the use of fire-extinguishing equipment.
- Strong observational and communication skills.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties, including standing or walking for extended periods.
