Reports To: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) / Special Education Director
Employment Status: Full-Time / Part-Time
Compensation: $20 – $35 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location
Position Overview :
The Behavior Interventionist is a key special education or behavioral services team member, dedicated to implementing individualized behavioral interventions for students or clients with developmental disorders. This role works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and focuses on helping individuals improve their social, emotional, and academic skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed by a BCBA.
- Collect data on behaviors and skills to track progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Provide direct support in various settings, such as classrooms, homes, or community settings.
- Utilize evidence-based practices in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to facilitate behavioral change.
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to generalize skills across environments.
- Prepare reports and participate in team meetings to discuss progress and future planning.
Qualifications :
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field is preferred.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disorders is strongly preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Strong communication, organizational, and observational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
