Position Overview :
The Animal Caretaker is a vital member of the animal care team, responsible for maintaining the well-being and health of animals under their care. This role involves a variety of tasks including feeding, cleaning, monitoring health, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the animals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning living areas.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to a supervisor or veterinarian.
- Assist with medical treatments and procedures under the guidance of a qualified veterinarian.
- Handle animals in a gentle and safe manner, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning cages, refilling food and water containers, and sanitizing equipment.
- Keep accurate records of each animal’s history, condition, and treatment plans.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in animal care or veterinary assistance is a plus.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in animal care, whether in a shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar setting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A genuine interest in animal welfare and a compassionate nature.
- Must pass a background check and any other required screenings.
