Department: Recreational and Therapeutic Activities Department

Reports To: Activities Director or Recreational Therapist

Activity Assistants are vital for recreational and therapeutic programs, particularly within senior living communities, rehabilitation centres, and healthcare facilities. Key Responsibilities

  4. Documentation: Track participants’ attendance, participation levels, and feedback to help refine future activities.
  5. Communication: Work closely with the Activities Director or Recreational Therapist to understand and meet the unique needs of each participant. Provide updates regarding any observed changes in participants’ behaviour or mood.
  6. Event Coordination: Assist in organising special events, outings, or guest performances.
  7. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on best practices and new trends in recreational therapy and activity planning.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent. Some facilities might require post-secondary education or training in recreational therapy or a related field.
  • Experience working in healthcare or senior living settings can be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and an empathetic nature.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
  • Physical stamina to assist with activities and meet the demands of the role.
